BOO!

I remember the first Halloween I experienced in Canada in the mid-1970s. I took my little sister trick-or-treating through the streets of our neighborhood in East Vancouver. I was amazed at how different this western holiday of Halloween was from our Polish All Saints’ Day, when we all visited family graves in Sopot. There, the smell of autumn leaves combined with the aroma of burning candles and twinkle of lights on all the graves made the memories of gray Poland (from those old times) more colorful, and a bit brighter and happier in my mind.
